The Mbwemburu (also Mbemkuru, Mto Bwamkuro) is an approximately 320 km long river in the east African state of Tanzania .

It rises in the southwest of the Lindi region , flows east-northeast and flows south of the city of Kiswere into the Indian Ocean . The Mbwemburu never dries up completely, but during the dry season there is only very little flow through its upper reaches.
