The McCarthy Point is a rocky headland on the Ingrid Christensen Coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth country . In the Larsemann Hills it is on the south bank of Wilcock Bay .
The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named it after Ian C. McCarthy, chief weather observer at Mawson Station in 1970, who was involved in explorations in the Prince Charles Mountains in 1971 .
