The McConnel Islands are a group of islands off the Loubet coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . They are in Darbel Bay , southeast of the Kidd Islands .
Aerial photographs were taken during the Falkland Islands and Dependencies Aerial Survey Expedition (1956–1957). The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1960 after the British physicist James Cannan McConnel (1860–1890), a pioneer in deformation analysis of ice between 1881 and 1890.
