The Darbel Bay is a 40 km wide bay at the Loubet coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . It lies between Cape Bellue and Cape Rey . The Erskine and Hopkins glaciers flow into the bay . The Darbel Islands extend south-west of Cape Bellue over 8 km along the entrance to Darbel Bay .

It was discovered during the Fifth French Antarctic Expedition (1908-1910) under the direction of the French polar explorer Jean-Baptiste Charcot , who named it after the French Vice-Admiral Laurent Marin-Darbel (1849-1928) as Baie Marin Darbel . The area was mapped in 1931 during the research trip of the RRS Discovery II (1929-1931) as part of the Discovery Investigations and the British Graham Land Expedition (1934-1937) under the direction of the Australian polar explorer John Rymill .
