The md4-1000 is a mini quadrocopter from the Siegen company microdrones GmbH and a further development of the smaller model md4-200.

Technical specifications

The weight of the md4-1000 is 2.5 kilograms; it flies at a horizontal speed of up to 15 meters per second (54 km / h). The dimensions are 1030 millimeters from rotor hub to rotor hub. It is possible to transport a maximum payload of 1.2 kilograms with the md4-1000. Thanks to the GPS waypoint navigation system, steering can take place fully automatically in flight.

The system has been developed for use in built-up or inaccessible terrain. The spectrum includes military, civil, scientific and commercial tasks, for example also in the police or fire department. The media reported on a planned use of the md4-1000 by Deutsche Bahn . The Chinese Gendarmerie (CAPF) and the German police also use the md4-1000.

In the film April Rain , released in 2013 , an md4-1000 was used for filming and is also part of the plot itself.

During a test by the Deutsche Post parcel service DHL in December 2013, parcel delivery with a drone was demonstrated for the first time in Germany. DHL called the aircraft a "Paketkopter"; An md4-1000 was used.
