Me and My Moulton ( English for Ich und mein Moulton ) is a Canadian-Norwegian short film directed by Torill Kove , who also wrote the screenplay. The film premiered on August 8, 2014 at the Toronto International Film Festival . In 2015, the film received an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Short Film .

content

Me and My Moulton tells a humorous, autobiographical story based on Kove's memory as a 7-year-old girl. Her greatest wish, like that of her two sisters, is to own a bicycle. The film explores the emotions of Kove's character, who is often embarrassed by the behavior of her unorthodox parents.

Kove is quoted in the Toronto Star as saying that she had the story on her mind for years. Her goal was to portray a girl's tensions with her parents: “These feelings are not easy for children. It's confusing when you don't have the later maturity to realize that you love your parents as much as you are ashamed of them at the same time. "

reception

The nomination for an Oscar is the third nomination for Kove. After being nominated for My Grandmother Ironed the King's Shirts in 2000, she won with The Danish Poet - Eine Liebesgeschichte 2007. It is also the 73rd nomination for the National Film Board of Canada that produced the film together with Microfilm AS. In addition, Me and My Moulton received an award at the 2014 International Animation Festivals in Ottawa and Bradford as well as at DOK Leipzig .
