The Meall Buidhe is a 932 meter high mountain in Scotland . Its Gaelic name means yellow mountain . He is classified as a Munro . The mountain is located in Perthshire in a mountain range north of the Loch an Daimh reservoir in a side valley of Glen Lyon .

The summit hairn of the Meall Buidhe

Occasionally the Meall Buidhe is confused with a 907 meter high mountain of the same name about eight kilometers to the west, which, however, is only classified as Corbett due to its height . Meall Buidhe to the east forms the highest point of a one kilometer long wide ridge that extends north-south to the north of the Loch an Daimh dam. Only to the east does the ridge show steeper slopes, to the west the Meall Buidhe does not stand out very much from the high moorland and heathland north of Loch an Daimh. To the north of the highest point, the Meall Buidhe has a slightly lower pre-summit with the 912 meter high Garbh Mheall. This falls significantly steeper and rockier to the north and east.

The Meall Buidhe can be climbed on several routes. From the south, the most popular approach among Munro excavators leads from the foot of the Loch an Daimh dam to the summit. Due to the altitude of the dam, where there is also a parking lot, the Meall Buidhe is comparatively easy and quick to climb Munro. Another, significantly longer, approach is from the north, starting at the small town of Bridge of Gaur at the west end of Loch Rannoch .
