Meche Barba

Meche Barba (aka Mercedes Barba Feito ; born September 24, 1922 in New York City ; † January 14, 2000 in Mexico City ) was a Mexican actress and dancer .

Barba was a star of the Mexican cine de rumberas and was boasted as O Venus mexicano . She played in more than fifty films and until shortly before her death in several television series (including Die wilde Rose , 1988 and Rosalinda , 1999). She became famous in 1946 with Alberto Gout's film Humo en los ojos . Films like Gran Casino (1947), Cortesana (1947), Amor vendido (1949), Casa de vecindad (1951) and As negro followed . Her film partners included Ninon Sevilla , Rosa Carmina , Amalia Aguilar and Maria Antonieta Pons .
