Mecklenburg's rest
Park Mecklenburg's Ruhe is a green area in Pasewalk , a town in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .
The park was created on the initiative of the officer Friedrich Ludwig Mecklenburg (* 1821, from 1871 from Mecklenburg ; † 1884) between 1865 and 1867 on Stettiner Chaussee, which is now part of Bundesstrasse 104 , between Schützenstrasse and New Cemetery. The green area was the first in the city and was laid out in the form of a promenade . Friedrich Ludwig von Mecklenburg was very close to nature and was busy a. a. with horticulture and landscaping. During his service with the "Queen's Cuirassiers" in the "Queen's" Cuirassier Regiment (Pommersches) No. 2 in Pasewalk from 1844 to 1856 and 1860 to 1869, he made a great contribution to the green design of the city. For example, the planting of the Pasewalker Marktplatz with a double row of linden trees goes back to him, as well as the planting of linden tree avenues along the roads leading out of the city.
In 1934, the city of Pasewalk had a field stone erected as a memorial with the "Mecklenburg-Stein", with the inscription: "Mecklenburg's rest. In memory of Friedrich Ludwig von Mecklenburg and his work in the city, at the eastern end of the park, facing the New Cemetery ". Today the entire green area is in an only moderately well-kept condition.
