Medal from Jan Žižka from Trocnov

The medal Jan Žižka von Trocnov , named after the most important military leader of the Hussites Jan Žižka von Trocnov (around 1360–1424), was donated by decree no. 21 of October 22, 1918 by the Czechoslovak National Council and was intended to be awarded to military personnel who distinguished themselves by excellent and valiant deeds during the First World War . Soldiers of the Allied troops and non-combatants could also be borrowed as long as the award criteria were met.

Classes

The medal consists of three classes and these are indicated by small stars on the ribbon.

  • First class with two stars
  • II. Class with one star
  • III. class

Appearance

The round of copper produced medal shows-turned to the right Portrait of Jan Žižka with fur hat . The right eye is covered by a flap. On the back you can see a linden tree (right) and a laurel branch (left), above which the two-line inscription ZA SVOBODU (For Freedom) can be read. All around ČESKOSLOVENSKÉ VOJSKO (Czechoslovak Army) as well as a free space in the lower semicircle where the award number was stamped.

Carrying method

The medal was worn on a red ribbon with black side stripes on the left chest. Non-combatants who are exclusively with the III. Class awards were given the medal on a red ribbon with a white side stripe.
