The medal for excellent performance in the armed organs of the Ministry of the Interior was a state award of the German Democratic Republic (GDR). The medal was donated on June 4, 1959. It was awarded to collectives and members of the armed organs of the MdI as well as to civilians for excellent performance in the tasks, in particular the strengthening and consolidation of the GDR in this context. It could also be awarded to volunteers of the People's Police .

Appearance and wearing style

The bronze medal with a diameter of 31.5 mm showed on its obverse a 20 mm police star in the center, which is surrounded by an oak branch on the left and right. In the middle of the police star, the state flag of the GDR can be seen in the form of a coat of arms (Germany flag ) without the national coat of arms. From 1964 the coat of arms of the GDR was coined. A fluttering ribbon can be seen under the police star, on which the two-line inscription: FOR EXCELLENT / ACHIEVEMENTS can be read. The reverse of the medal, on the other hand, shows the GDR's national coat of arms. The medal was worn on the left upper side of the chest on a pentagonal pentagonal green covered clasp, in which two 1.5 mm wide white stripes were woven vertically, which were 1.5 mm from the edge.
