Appearance and wearing style

From bronze existing coin with a diameter of 31.5 mm shows on its obverse on a round middle with a diameter of 23 mm a right hand holds the rifle on which in turn a waving flag red workers is secured. The symbolism is surrounded by a writing ring that shows the inscription: FOR EXCELLENT ACHIEVEMENTS and is terminated at the bottom by two crossed laurel branches. The reverse of the medal, on the other hand, shows the GDR's national coat of arms . The medal was worn on an approx. 22 to 25 mm wide pentagonal clasp on the upper left side of the chest, the band of which is red.
