    • for 40 years of service in silver and
    • for 25 years of service in bronze.
  • from 1973
    • For 40 years of service, honor bar for the gold medal (men)
    • for 35 years of service, honor bar for the gold medal (women)
    • for 30 years of service in gold,
    • for 20 years of service in silver and
    • for 10 years of service in bronze.

Appearance and wearing style

The bronze, silver-plated or gold-plated medal with a diameter of 30 mm shows a vane wheel in the middle on its obverse , the symbol of the Deutsche Reichsbahn in the GDR. This is enclosed by a 4.5 mm wide laurel wreath, which is tied at the bottom and is bent upwards and open and the ends of which touch at the top of the medal. The laurel wreath itself is lightly touched and covered by the wings of the impeller on the right and left. The border between the wreath and the center piece is achieved by a continuous narrow ring. The reverse of the medal, however, shows in the first form of this medal, which was awarded until 1972, the three-line inscription: FÜR / TREUE / DIENSTE . From the form, which has been awarded since 1973, the small state coat of arms of the GDR and the two-line inscription below it was emblazoned instead: FÜR TREUE / DIENSTE . The medal of the first form was worn on a 25 mm × 14.5 mm blue covered clasp with a metal edge, from 1963 28.5 mm × 15.4 mm and from 1970 then 24 × 12 mm, but with the latter with light blue Tape in the highest step on the upper left side of the chest. The interim clasps are of the same quality and also show a 17 mm large superimposed miniature in the middle, corresponding to the level awarded. Incidentally, interim clips made of enamel were also known, but were only in circulation for a short time. The bar of honor made of gilded bronze shows a standing impeller in the middle in front of two short laurel branches that point outwards to the left and right of the impeller. Their dimensions are 52 × 16 mm and were usually laid out over the gold medal.
