Medibus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Medibus is a special omnibus that, as a mobile family doctor's practice, regularly travels to selected communities for outpatient medical care. It has a waiting area, a small treatment room and a consulting room. It is equipped with an EKG monitor defibrillator, a lung function, an ultrasound device and modern practice EDP. A rapid laboratory ( point of care testing ) is used to diagnose myocardial infarction, pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis, as well as to check anticoagulant therapies ( Marcumar / Phenprocoumon ). All vaccinations recommended by the Standing Vaccination Commission (STIKO) are kept in special temperature-monitored refrigerators . Small surgical interventions such as the treatment of wounds, the splitting of abscesses or the removal of skin changes can be carried out.

The Medibus started as a mobile family doctor's practice at the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians in Hessen. The pilot project of KV Hessen and DB Regio arose due to the shortage of doctors in rural regions. The Medibus is intended as a supplement to the range of outpatient care in order to improve patient care where there are no longer enough general practitioners and at the same time to relieve the general practitioners.

Since July 1, 2018, the Medibus has stopped regularly in the communities of Cornberg , Herleshausen , Nentershausen , Sontra , Ringgau and Weißenborn .
