International Dixie and Swing Festival Fürstenfeld

The Fürstenfeld International Dixie and Swing Festival has been a jazz festival that has been taking place in Fürstenfeld every year since summer 2016 . Different styles of traditional jazz such as Dixieland , New Orleans jazz and swing as well as ragtime and boogie woogie are performed by national and international acts. The festival takes place in different locations within the municipality. The venues for the concerts include the town hall and the Grabbner house. The free open-air concerts are held on the main square or in the Pfeilburghof. Dance workshops for Lindy Hop and swing dance round off the program.

history

In 2016, the Fürstenfeld International Dixie and Swing Festival was founded by the musician and journalist Johannes Hödl in collaboration with the then mayor Werner Gutzwar and the cultural advisor Hermann Großschedl. The occasion was the 40th anniversary of the Old Stoariegler Dixieland band , of which Hödl was a band leader until 1991 .

The artistic direction is incumbent on the jazz trombonist and composer Àdàm Ladànyi. The dance workshops are carried out by the group "The Lindy Cats".
