MedienPädagogik is an electronic specialist journal that sees itself as a “journal for the theory and practice of media education”. It is published jointly by the Media Education Section of the German Society for Educational Science and the Zurich University of Education . It is an open access journal that does not charge publication fees or subscription fees. It has been published annually since 2000 with around two themed issues as well as regular individual articles and reviews.

The magazine's target group is communication and media scholars as well as media education specialists . The journal offers a forum to negotiate questions of media-pedagogical theory formation and to find out about the state of the technical discourse.

The articles appear in themed magazines and in a separate section for individual articles. The articles in the journal as well as the individual articles can be accessed free of charge as PDF documents on the journal's website.
