The Medpex mail order pharmacy (proprietary medpex mail order pharmacy ) is a German mail order pharmacy based in Ludwigshafen am Rhein in Rhineland-Palatinate . It is one of the leading mail-order pharmacies in Germany.
The Medpex brand operates under the name Stifts-Apotheke, which also includes a pharmacy in Ludwigshafen am Rhein. The pharmacist Christiane Bülow-Bichler is the owner of the pharmacy.
history
After the amendments to the Medicines Act (AMG) and the Pharmacy Act (ApoG) in 2004, the pharmacist Franz Bichler opened one of the first German mail-order pharmacies under the name medpex in 2005. The Stifts-Apotheke, which is the branch pharmacy behind the online shop , was founded by Bichler in 1982. Medpex still sends prescription-only and over-the-counter drugs, pharmacy-typical products, cosmetics and skin care products. The range comprises a total of around 100,000 products.
In total, more than 4 million customers are served throughout Germany. Around 400,000 parcels are sent every month. The logistics area is over 10,000 m². The pharmacy employs around 400 people and generated a turnover of 140 million euros in 2017.
In 2011, Bichler's daughter Christiane Bülow-Bichler took over the monastery pharmacy and thus also the medpex mail order pharmacy.
In October 2018, the Zur Rose Group announced the takeover of the medpex mail order pharmacy. With the takeover, the Zur Rose Group increases its share of the pharmaceutical sales in Germany from 18 to 31 percent. The merger is subject to the usual approvals from the regulatory authorities and is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2019.
