history

The foundation stone for the company was laid in 1947 with the opening of a paint shop in downtown Bad Kreuznach. The company started its own paint production in 1955. Seven years later, in 1962, Otto Meffert & Sohn GmbH moved to the Bad Kreuznach industrial area, where the production of emulsion paints was expanded. In 1969 the production of oil and lacquer paints started, which in 1975 led to the discontinuation of wholesaling in favor of pure production. The current board of directors took over the management in 1985 and in 1991 led the company into international orientation. Today, production facilities in Ukraine, Russia, Hungary, Lithuania and Italy as well as branches and sales companies in France, the Czech Republic, China, Russia, Switzerland and Italy belong to the Meffert Group. In 1992 the second of six domestic production facilities was inaugurated in Ostrau. As early as 1996, Meffert AG expanded its Ostrauer factory to include a production facility for acrylic paints and glazes.

In 1997 Otto Meffert & Sohn GmbH was converted into Meffert AG Farbwerke. The Meffert group of companies started integrating several well-known companies in 2000. The beginning was made with the acquisition of Dinova GmbH & Co. KG from Didier Werke. Another plant was added in 2003 with Tex-Color GmbH & Co. KG. Since 2007, the Meffert range has been supplemented by the product range of the Mainz lacquer factory J. Albrecht GmbH & Co. KG. KC Dichtstoff GmbH & Co. KG, a manufacturer of silicone, acrylic and PUR adhesives and sealing compounds, was incorporated into the group of companies in 2008. In 2013 the name was changed to Pronova Dichtstoffe GmbH & Co. KG. Another important point was the establishment of Meffert AG Switzerland in 2014. In 2016 the subsidiaries Meffert Production Noginsk and Meffert Polilux were fully integrated into the group of companies. In addition to the activities of Duisburg-based FEIDAL GmbH Lacke + Farben in the form of an asset deal, Meffert AG, together with an Italian partner, took over Colorificio A. & B. Casati Spa in Verona.
