Mega flood

Giant ripples in the Kurai Basin, Altai, Russia, as evidence of mega-floods

A mega- flood is a flood with a peak discharge of more than 1,000,000 cubic meters per second, which is triggered by ice dam breaks, glacier runs , dam breaks and similar events. Mega floods can irreversibly change landscapes, such as the Channeled Scablands in today's Washington state , which were created by the Missoula floods .

Indications of mega-tides are deposits of giant ripples . These have been detected in the Altai , for example , but also on Mars, and point to prehistoric mega-flood events on the red planet.
