The megalithic systems of Mauvans sud in Saint-Cézaire-sur-Siagne in the Alpes-Maritimes department in France are of particular interest, as two megalithic systems of completely different types are located about 50 m apart .

Dolmen of Mauvans sud

In France, dolmen is the generic term for Neolithic megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ). The first is a classic dolmen with a walkway surrounded by a stone mound about 10.0 m in diameter. The second is a (French called tombe en blocs) round, access-free block dolmen in a stone mound, which in this form is only typical for the communities of Saint-Cézaire-sur-Siagne and St. Vallier. The facilities were placed under protection in 1989.

The dolmen is rectangular and consists of five large panels. The north and south plates are framed by walls. The chamber opens into the west-facing corridor, which consists of two large slabs and dry stone walls . The round hill is more than 10.0 m in diameter.

The dolmen was excavated in 1892, but perhaps not until 1905 by P. Goby and 1960 by J. Courtin. In the village are also the Dolmen de la Graou , the Dolmen de Lou Serre Dinguille, the Dolmen of Colbas 1, the "Tombe en blocs of Mauvans sud" and the Dolmen des Puades .
