Megapenthes (son of Proitus)
Megapenthes ( Greek Μεγαπένθης ) is king of Argos in Greek mythology .
He is the son of Proitos and Stheneboia and cousin of Perseus and thus the great-nephew of Akrisios . He is the father of Argeus and Iphianeira. Some sources also name Anaxagoras as one of his sons.
After his father, he takes over the government of Tiryns . When Perseus accidentally kills Akrisios, Perseus and Megapenthes swap kingdoms and he becomes king of Argos . Later he is said to have killed Perseus.
