Megareus (son of Creon)
Megareus ( Greek Μεγαρεύς ) is a figure from Greek mythology .
He was a son of Creon and Eurydice and one of the defenders of the city in Aeschylus ' tragedy Seven against Thebes . While in other variants of the myth the son of Creon is called Menoikeus and because of a prediction by the seer Teiresias , according to which the voluntary death of a Theban would save Thebes, throws himself from the city wall before the actual battle for the city, Megareus becomes Aeschylus divided as defender of the third gate of the seven- gate Thebes and fell in battle. In the Antigone of Sophocles , the fate of Megareus remains in the dark, since the handwritten tradition does not confirm with certainty the sacrificial death of Megareus, which Eurydice lamented.
