Megaw Island is the easternmost of the Bennett Islands in Hanusse Bay off the west coast of the Antarctic Graham Land in the north of the Antarctic Peninsula .
Aerial photographs of the American Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947–1948) and the British Falkland Islands and Dependencies Aerial Survey Expedition (1956–1957) were used to map them. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1960 after the British physicist Helen Dick Megaw (1907-2002), who in 1934 succeeded in accurately determining the size of a unit in the crystal lattice of ice .
