Mehdi Achawan Sales

Mehdi Achawan Sales ( Persian مهدی اخوان ثالث, DMG Mehdi-ye Aḫawān-e Sales , listen ? / i ; English Mehdi Akhavan-Sales ; * March 1, 1929 in Mashhad , Iran ; † August 26, 1990 in Tehran ) pseudonym M. Omid (Audio file / audio sample م. امید, 'Hope') was an Iranian poet. He is one of the pioneers of free verse poetry in the Persian language. In his works, elements of classical Persian poetry are combined with innovations in modern Persian poetry by Nimā Juschidsch .

Life

Achawan-e Sales was born in Mashhad in 1928 . After graduating from high school, he was initially an elementary school teacher. He was imprisoned with other political activists after the fall of Mohammad Mossadegh in 1953. His daughter Laleh was born while in captivity.

After his release from prison in 1957, he began working on the radio in Tehran and was shortly thereafter transferred to Chuzestan to work for television. He later taught literature on radio and television as well as at university. After the Iranian Revolution of 1979, he was accepted into the Iranian Academy of Artists and Writers . In 1981 he was forced to resign from public work without pay. In 1990 he traveled abroad for the first time with an invitation from a German artist organization. A few months after his return he died in Mehr Hospital in Tehran. He was buried in the area of ​​the mausoleum of Ferdausi in Tūs .
