Mehdi Hasan (journalist)

Mehdi Raza Hasan (* July 1979) is a British journalist, author and political commentator. He is a columnist for the investigative news website The Intercept and moderates the Deconstructed podcast published there . He is also the host of the Al Jazeera programs “Head to Head” and “ UpFront ” and writes regularly for the British daily newspaper The Guardian .

Life

Hasan first worked as a researcher and then as a producer for the political program "Jonathan Dimbleby" ( London Weekend Television ), interrupted by a brief interim position as managing editor for "The Politics Show" ( BBC One ). He then moved to Sunrise ( Sky News ) as an assistant executive producer . In 2009 he became editor-in-chief of the political and cultural magazine New Statesman , and in 2012 political director of the UK edition of the Huffington Post . In the same year the first work for the English-language news channel of Al Jazeera followed , where he presented the programs "The Café" (2012), "Head to Head" (since 2013) and "UpFront" (since 2015).

Since 2018 he has been writing as a columnist and senior contributor on the investigative news website The Intercept , where he also publishes the podcast Deconstructed , in which he analyzes current affairs and discusses it with prominent interviewees.
