Office Schwelm
The Schwelm office was an office in the Hagen district from 1817 to 1879 .
The office was established as the mayor's office Schwelm in 1817 as the successor to Mairie Schwelm in the Hagen arrondissement in the Ruhr department of the French-occupied Grand Duchy of Berg . Prussia provisionally administered the Grand Duchy after the French had withdrawn in the Generalgouvernement of Berg before it was finally granted the area at the Congress of Vienna . After the founding of the Province of Westphalia , Prussia introduced its administrative structures. The mayor's office in Schwelm was assigned to the district of Hagen. The mayor's office belonged to two community units, the town of Schwelm and the surrounding rural community (peasantry) Schwelm .
In 1844 the mayor's office was converted into an office, at the same time the city of Schwelm left office and became vacant. The office now consisted only of the rural community Schwelm. In 1879 this was incorporated into the free city of Schwelm, so that the office was dissolved.
