The Meier Point is a headland on the south coast of Coronation Iceland in Archipelago of the South Orkney Islands . It forms the west side of the entrance to Norway Bight .
The name Cape Meier for this headland appears for the first time on a map based on the surveys of the South Orkney Islands by the Norwegian whaler captain Petter Sørlle between 1912 and 1913. The name was adapted after measurements by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey between 1956 and 1958. It is probably named after the British botanist and civil engineer John Miers [sic!] (1789–1879).
