Meike Niemeyer

Meike Niemeyer (born December 2, 1980 in Osnabrück ) is a German director for drama and children's and youth theater .

biography

Meike Niemeyer studied theater and musicology in Leipzig . From 2000 to 2006, parallel to her studies, she worked as an assistant director for the Freilichtspiele Tecklenburg , where she supervised all major musical productions during that time. Other stations during her studies were the Bremen Theater , the Osnabrück Municipal Theaters and the Hanover State Theater . She also completed several authoring workshops.

After completing her studies, from 2006 to 2008 she was employed as an assistant director for the drama division at the Giessen City Theater. Niemeyer made her debut as a director in Osnabrück in 2005 with a production of Arthur Schnitzler's Fräulein Else . In 2007 she staged George Taboris Mutters Courage and Patrick Barlow's Der Messias in Giessen .

Niemeyer has been working as a freelance director since 2008. Since then she has staged Ulrich Hub's An der Arche um Acht at the Stadttheater Gießen and Heiner Kondschak's The Seven Towers at the Landestheater Linz .
