Meike Peters

Meike Peters (* 1975 ) is a German cookbook author , winner of the James Beard Foundation Award, blogger and photographer . She writes about food and travel for international magazines . Her first cookbook , Eat In My Kitchen , was published in October 2016 by Prestel Verlag ( Random House publishing group ) in German and English and won the 2017 James Beard Award in the "General Cooking" category. Her book 365 followed in 2019 : Every day simply cook and bake , a collection of 365 of her recipes for every day of the year. Both cookbooks were on The New York Times' Best Cookbook Lists for Fall 2019 and Fall 2016.

Career

She studied architecture, but in November 2013 she decided to start her own food blog , Eat In My Kitchen, on which she shared her own recipe with her readers every day for the first year. Her recipes combine German and Mediterranean influences and Cynthia Barcomi says of them: “Great food speaks the truth just like great art. Meike's recipes and photos focus on the essentials, they are honest and a revelation - I love the way they cook! It inspires our senses and fuels the desire for more. Freed from everything superfluous, Meike is all about delicious food. ”Meike Peters lives and works in Berlin and Malta with her partner, an American-Maltese music producer. Her book 365 is dedicated to the Maltese journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia .
