Meinhard Schröder (lawyer, 1942)

Meinhard Schröder (born May 19, 1942 in Munich ) is a German legal scholar and former professor at the University of Trier .

Life

Schröder studied law at the Universities of Mainz and Frankfurt am Main . There he passed his first state examination in law in 1966. After the legal clerkship, the second state examination followed in 1971. Two years earlier, in 1969, Schröder had graduated from the University of Bonn as a student of Ernst Friesenhahn as a Dr. iur. been awarded a doctorate. In 1977 he completed his habilitation, also in Bonn, and received the venia legendi for the subjects of public law, international law, European law and environmental law.

After a brief activity as a private lecturer at the University of Bonn, Schröder took up a professorship at the University of Trier in 1978 , where he held the chair for public law, in particular international and European law, until his retirement in 2010. Since 1989 he has been director of the Trier Institute for Environmental and Technology Law. His work in Trier was only interrupted by a visiting professorship at the University of Utrecht in 1995. From 1983 to 2007 Schröder was also a part-time judge at the Higher Administrative Court of Rhineland-Palatinate in Koblenz . Alexander Proelß was the successor to his chair in Trier .

Schröder's research and publications focused primarily on constitutional and administrative law, including comparative law, international law, the law of the European Union as well as national, European and international environmental law. Among other things, he commented on numerous standards on the former ERA in relevant comments.
