plant

The master of the Pulkauer Altar is a representative of the painting style summarized under the term Danube School . His altarpieces are an important work in this direction.

The Pulkau winged altar depicts the passion of Christ as the main motif of the master of the Pulkau altar .

Master of panel paintings

The Pulkau Altar is a rich composition of painting and carving, and the architecture of the approximately 10 meter high shrine is also remarkable. To differentiate between the various artists who created the total work of art, a distinction is sometimes made between a master of Pulkau altar sculptures and the master of Pulkau panel paintings .

Controversial motifs of the predelle wings

The two predelle wings of the altar have been kept open since the end of the 20th century. Representations of a local, anti-Semitic legend are therefore not publicly available at the request of the population.

History master

The equation of the master of the Pulkau panel paintings with the historia master remains controversial in art history.
