As a master of Veringen an anonymous is German painter of the Renaissance called.

The "Master of Veringen" carried under the emergency name is equated with the painting workshop of the Strüb family from Veringenstadt . Art historian Bernd Konrad is of the opinion that the master of Veringen has something in common with the master of Sigmaringen , but not with the master of Messkirch . This must be an independent workshop.

In 2006 Konrad succeeded in proving that over twenty works by unknown masters can be assigned to the Strüb painters Hans and Jakob Strüb. The works hang among others in the Fidelishaus and Haus Nazareth in Sigmaringen , in Königseggwald , Krumbach and Meßkirch . He justifies this new attribution with thorough stylistic studies, especially in the depictions of faces and figures. For the age determinations, the works date from 1500 to 1530, scientific methods were used, as only a few works were dated.

Konrad differentiates between four chronological style groups of the Strübwerke, in which, among other things, the development of the treatment of space becomes visible. Although the entire work is consistent, it cannot be attributed to one painter alone, but rather to an entire workshop. In Veringenstadt they were the four painters Peter Strüb the Elder with his sons Jakob, Hans and Peter the Younger.

Straubhaus

The "Strübhaus" in Veringenstadt, a former artist workshop and now a museum for medieval painting, gives an insight into the important family of painters.
