history
Eponym Lise Meitner

Meitner is an impact crater on the planet Venus . With a diameter of 149 km, it is the third largest crater on Venus. The double crater, located in a flat volcanic plain, is surrounded by landslides of ejecta material that appear bright on the radar image. The ridges running through the plain in a northeastern direction appear to be older than the crater.

The naming after the nuclear physicist Lise Meitner was confirmed by the IAU in 1979.
