Mejdi Traoui (born December 13, 1983 in Sousse , Tunisia ) is a former Tunisian football player who plays in the defensive midfield.
Career
Traoui started his career at Étoile Sportive du Sahel , where he became Tunisian champion in 2007. He also won the CAF Cup in 2006 and the CAF Champions League in 2007 . He later took part in the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana , where he played through in three of the four Tunisian games. In the group game against Senegal he was able to equalize 2-2. Tunisia were eliminated in the quarterfinals.
In 2008 he made a free transfer to FC Red Bull Salzburg in Austria , where he initially only played against SV Grödig for the Salzburg amateurs. On August 3, 2008 he made his debut in the fighting team against LASK Linz . Salzburg won the game 1-0. After only one further use in the Bundesliga and four in the amateur team in the first division Traoui changed in January 2009 on loan until the summer in the Saudi Arabia to al-Wahda under the Austrian coach Josef Hickersberger . He then returned to Salzburg, where he was used in the amateur team in the autumn. During the winter break of 2009/10 he reached an agreement with Salzburg to terminate his contract and moved back to his home country to Espérance Tunis . He played there until the end of his career in 2014. During this time he won the Tunisian championship four times.
He played 41 times for Tunisia and scored one goal.
