Melanchthon Prize of the city of Bretten
The Melanchthon Prize of the city of Bretten is an international science prize donated in 1988 by the birthplace of the reformer Philipp Melanchthon in his honor. According to the statutes, the award is given every three years for a “work that makes an excellent contribution to deepening knowledge of Melanchthon's life and work or the spiritual-historical prerequisites, the environment and the consequences of his work.” It is endowed with 7,500 euros .
Every year since 2004, the "Melanchthon Student Prize", endowed with 750 euros, has been awarded to secondary school students in Brettens.
