Melania Gaia Mazzucco (born October 6, 1966 in Rome ) is an Italian writer .

Life

After studying at the Film School in Rome, she wrote novels , plays and screenplays. She was awarded the Premio Strega 2003 for the novel Vita (German: life ).

Melania G. Mazzucco published the novel Tintorettos Engel ( La lunga attesa dell'angelo in Italian ) in 2008, which focuses on the relationship between the Venetian painter Jacopo Tintoretto and his daughter Marietta . Her award-winning biography Jacomo Tintoretto & i suoi figli: Storia di una famiglia veneziana was published a year later , where, after more than ten years of research, she comes up with some hitherto unknown facts about Tintoretto and his family.
