Melchior Broederlam
Melchior Broederlam or Broederlain was a Flemish Gothic painter .
Little is known about his life. Only his stay at the court of Philip the Bold of Burgundy in Ypres between 1381 and 1409 is certain .
The only verifiable work of Broederlam are two wings of an altar for the Chartreuse de Champmol in Dijon from 1394. On them are the motifs of the Annunciation and Visitation of Mary , the offering in the temple and the flight of the Holy Family to Egypt .
