Melchior Müller

Melchior Müller (* around 1602 in Zug ; † April 13, 1672 there ) was a Swiss glass painter .

Life

Müller was Catholic and came from Zug. He was the son of Dorothea Bossard and the councilor and land clerk Johann Müller. In 1624 he married Anna Maria Vogt, in 1630 he married Martha Kolin, in 1659 he married widow Anna Uttinger and in 1663 he married Dorothea Wegmann. He worked as a glass painter, and after marrying his second wife he was the innkeeper at Zum Ochsen. From 1630 to 1,631 it was Obervogt of Risch , from 1639 to 1642 he was Schultheiss of the Grand Council, from 1640 to 1641 he was churchwarden of St. Wolfgang , 1645 and 1662-63 he was grand juge, from 1646 to 1648 he was proconsul in Maggia Valley , from 1649 to 1650 he was Seckelmeister , 1652–53 and 1655 he was weekly judge , 1664–65 he was Obervogt von Cham . He was an officer in the papal and Milanese services.

Müller is considered to be one of Zug's most important glass painters and reverse glass painters, of whom only two signed works exist: the reverse glass painting for Johann Heinrich Müller and Barbara Zurlauben from 1629 (private property) and Paul Stocker's picture disk from 1631 ( museum in the castle , Zug).
