Life
Vidal's career began in Spain around 1860, but he also worked in Italy for around 25 years. He sang mostly lyrical parts of bel canto , especially from Verdi operas.
After his singing career he worked as a singing teacher. He taught, for example, Rosina Storchio , Esperanza Clasenti , Ludwig Hess , Graziella Pareto , Lucrezia Bori and Elvira de Hidalgo . The latter was so enthusiastic about his skills that when she was teaching singing herself, she used his methods to train Maria Callas .
