history

Melecs' roots lie in Siemens AG . Melecs is based on a management buy-out of the three partners Friedrich Pressl, Ernst Mayrhofer and Bernhard Pulferer in 2009.

In addition to the Melecs EWS plant in Siegendorf, Austria, which was built in 2002, the Melecs EWG branch was opened in Győr, Hungary, in 2011. In 2015, the Melecs EWL subsidiary was incorporated in Lenzing, Austria, and in 2016, the Melecs EWW subsidiary was opened in Wuxi, China. In 2018, the company entered the North American market with the opening of a new sales and development office in Auburn Hills / Michigan (USA). In addition, Melecs EWS became 70% majority owner of Prettl Electronics Querétaro at the end of 2018 and took over the management of this company in Mexico.

The strongest growth since Melecs was founded has been in the automotive sector, especially in transmission controls for all-wheel-drive vehicles , where large market shares were gained in Europe, the USA and Asia. The technical structure of the transmission control was selected in 2015 by the Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology and the Austrian Patent Office among the top 10 most innovative Austrian patents in 2014.
