Melik ( Armenian Մելիք , Georgian მელიქი meliki , German 'prince' ; from Arabic ملك Malik for "king") was a hereditary Armeniannobility titlein various areas of easternArmenia.

In Nagorno-Karabakh , there were five Armenian dominions, the five principalities of Karabakh which were subject to a Melik: Chat's , Disak, Dschraberd, Gulistan and Waranda (chat's and Dschraberd under lines of the dynasty Hassan Dschalaljan ).

There were four Melik in Georgia :

  • Tbilisi : Melik-Mamasachlissi (family Ivangulashvili, Mirimanishvili, Bebutashvili etc.)
  • Inner Kartlien (Schida Kartli): Goris Meliki
  • Niederkartlien (Kwemo Kartli): Somchitis Meliki (Melikischwili) and Loris Meliki (Loris-Melikischwili, Russified Loris-Melikow)
