Melinite is the name of an explosive that belongs to the group of picrate powders.

Melinit mainly consists of picric acid (around 95%) and some collodion jelly. It was used to fill grenades in the 19th century , but with limited success because it tends to spontaneously ignite. The explosive was developed by the French chemist Eugène Turpin , who registered it as a patent on January 12, 1886 under the designation "DRP No. 38734".
