Melres is a place and a former municipality ( freguesia ) in northern Portugal .
Melres is part of Gondomar County in the Porto District . The community had an area of 17.3 km² and 3730 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of Melres and Medas were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Melres e Medas . Melres is the seat of this newly formed community.
