Melsele is a district of the city of Beveren in the Belgian province of East Flanders .
Melsele is located between the core town of Beveren and the nearby town of Zwijndrecht . There is a tram line just outside the city that connects Zwijndrecht and Antwerp . Melsele has about 10,500 inhabitants and is one of the oldest inhabited places in the Waasland . It was a county where clog makers worked.
Wollfart
Melsele is known for the pilgrimage to Onze-Lieve-Vrouw von Gaverland. This sculpture has been worshiped since the 17th century and was papally crowned by Mgr. Stillemans.
