Menace

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Menace is a British punk band . She is one of those punk groups that only recorded a few singles in their early days , but still had a significant impact on the punk scene.

history

Noel Martin (drums), Steve Tannett (guitar), Morgan Webster (vocals) and Charlie Casey (bass) formed Menace in 1976. Your first year was quite successful. They played in the punk strongholds of Roxy, Vortex and Hope & Anchor, were featured in Mark P's Fanzine Sniffin 'Glue and released their first single, Screwed Up, on Illegal Records. The lyrics of their second single GLC (for Greater London Council , "Political man and your smiling lies / You're all covered in smut / GLC / You're full of shit") caused them some trouble. The City of London tried to prevent their concerts and most radio stations did not play the title. The Menace appealed to both punks and skinheads . They supported Sham 69 many times . After a good two years and five singles released on three different record labels , the group broke up in their original form. Morgan Webster was replaced by John Lacey and the band called themselves "The Aces". Under this name she brought out another single.

As part of the Oi! - Revivals in the mid-1990s, interest in Menace rose again. The group recorded new pieces with Andrew Tweedle in Tannett's place; the phonograms were released by Captain Oi! Records and Knockout (split EP with Loikaemie ). In 2002 the line-up changed again.
