Mencault
The Mencault , also Maucault , was a Flemish grain measure .
In Landrecies and other places in the region, the measure was set as follows:
- 1 Mencault = 3290 Parisian cubic inches = 65.2 liters
In various places like Landrecies , Saint-Quentin and Casteau weighed in to Parisian proportions
- 1 Mencault wheat = 97 pounds market weight
- 1 Mencault Mangkorn (mixed grain) = 94 pounds of market weight
- 1 Mencault rye = 90 pounds market weight
- 1 Mencault oat = 72 pounds of market weight
The measure for the oats was valid for seven months (beginning of August to end of February) in a different amount. During this period of time, oats were heaped up and
- 1 Mencault = 7 ⅓ Boisseaux
In the other five months the oats were measured and it was streaked
- 1 Mencault = 6 ⅔ Boisseaux That corresponded to 10 (army) rations.
Other dimensional relationships were
- 2 Mencaults = 1 Septier
- in Saint-Quentin 1 Septier = 4 Boisseaux
- 1 Mencaults = 2 Boisseaux
