The Meng rises from the Rote Wand at around 2390 meters above sea level. It flows through the Gamperdonatal ( Mengschlucht ) to the north, where it joins the Ill (Vorarlberg) in the Vorarlberg municipality of Nenzing . It reaches a length of about 18 kilometers.
The Mengbachwerk (hydroelectric power plant) was opened on the Meng in 1897 by Getzner Textil AG (then Getzner, Mutter & Cie ) .
The Gampbach , about 5 kilometers long, comes towards the Meng from the left side from the Gamptal and joins it in the middle course .
