Menhir of Chancerons

The menhir of Chancerons is located above the hamlet of Les Chancerons, which belongs to the 500 m north of the village of Vergisson , west of Mâcon in the Saône-et-Loire department in France .

The approximately 2.0 m high needle-shaped menhir stands about 30 meters from a stone box , dates from the Neolithic Age and has been classified as a monument historique since 1958 . There are two other menhirs in the parish, but they are located. The southern menhir with a height of about 2.9 meters and the northern menhirs with a length of about 3.9 meters. A fourth menhir, the original location of which is unknown, was relocated and Christianized.

Nearby is the Gisement préhistorique de Solutré.
