The menhir of Klosterhäseler (also called Lichtenstein or Der Hohe Stein ) is a prehistoric menhir near Klosterhäseler , a district of the municipality of An der Poststraße in the Burgenland district , Saxony-Anhalt .

location

The stone is located south of Klosterhäseler on the way to Zäckwar in a wooded area. There the field name "Lichtenstein" is handed down, which is probably derived from an old name for the stone.

description

The stone is made of shell limestone and has an almost square cross-section. It was originally rectangular, but its appearance today is due to flaking. A small base has been preserved at the foot. The stone has a height of 1.05 m, a width between 0.47 m and 0.55 m and a thickness of 0.47 m. The base is 0.35 m high and 0.15 m wider than the upper part of the menhir.

Finds from the area around the stone come from the Band Ceramic Culture , the Cord Ceramic Culture , the Full Bronze Age and the Middle Ages .

According to Waldtraut Schrickel , the old name "Lichtenstein" was no longer in use in the 1950s. Instead, the menhir was called "The High Stone".
