Menhir from Mahndorf

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mahndorf menhir (also known as Heringstein ) was probably a prehistoric menhir near Mahndorf , a district of Halberstadt in the Harz district , Saxony-Anhalt . It was on the parcel on the hundred acre width and was probably destroyed in the 19th century. There is no further information on material, shape and dimensions. Perhaps it is identical to a stone mentioned in 1876, known as the "Bacon Side" near Halberstadt.

Finds from the area around the menhir come from the Rössen culture , the Schönfeld culture , the Full Bronze Age and the Iron Age .
